The CCF/FCMA doesn’t just love craft – we stand up for it, too. Throughout Craft Year 2015, we have the opportunity to engage with representatives from all levels of government: from local city counsellors to mayors to provincial and federal members of parliament. As always, we take advantage of these opportunities to inform and inspire these individuals about the craft community and our many contributions to Canadian life. We want to help you do the same.
In our new position paper, titled “How Can You Support the Craft Sector?”, we provide the community with a document that can help when meeting with government representatives. Intended for use as a hand-out, the position paper includes a brief description of the craft sector alongside short, clear suggestions for how to support the sector. We encourage you to share this document, and to use it whenever you engage with government representatives in discussions about the craft field.
Providing clear information and direct recommendations supporting the craft sector as a whole helps to inform all levels of government on how they can support the craft community. These individuals are responsible for the guidelines, programs and budgets that directly affect the arts and cultural sector, and the more information they have about the craft sector’s needs, the better.
Feel free to download the position paper, and to share it with others, so we might all work towards significant improvements for the Canadian craft community.
