The Canadian Crafts Federation/Fédération canadienne des métiers d’art and the Métiers d’art du Québec have been busy preparing for the Naked Craft en direct Symposium. We are delighted to announce the official location: Manoir Montmorency!
Located in the beautiful Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, a national historic site just a few minutes outside of Quebec City, this location is sure to inspire as much as the content of the symposium! With an 83-meter high drop, Montmorency Falls dominate the landscape. It can be explored on foot, by cable car, or from the gourmet restaurant, and is an ideal setting for this year’s national event. Be sure to arrive early on Saturday, September 25th, to see everything the Park has to offer, including a 300-meters double zip line and the via ferrata hiking trail, promising adrenaline surges and breathtaking views. The entire cove of the park even illuminates after dark.
The site itself has a remarkable history: the park has been used as a cemetery, a seat of power, and a strategic military site, prior to becoming an urban park. The Manoir itself functioned as the meeting place of the Legislature of the United Province of Canada between 1841 and 1866, which marks it as a site of national historic significance. The Manoir burned down in 1993, but was reconstructed from its original plans, maintaining its remarkable and historical appearance.
Join us for an evening of vibrant discussion about contemporary fine craft in a location that will inspire patriotism and an appreciation for beauty: the perfect mood for such a cultural event.
