The Canadian Crafts Federation / Fédération canadienne des métiers d’art is, as you know, a federation. We are a network of organizations from across the country, working collaboratively to raise craft to new heights, increasing the understanding of, access to, and appreciation for craft. The vast majority of our membership is made up of the Provincial and Territorial Craft Councils across Canada, and when one of these members makes a major change, we want the world to know about it. Therefore, it is our pleasure to celebrate the new name, look and vibe of the organization formerly known as the Ontario Crafts Council: Craft Ontario.
With a new name, logo and website, Craft Ontario is refreshing it’s public brand and tying all elements of the council together. Not only is the organization name changing, but the legendary Toronto-based craft gallery and shop, formerly known as the Guild Shop, will also utilize the new brand, under it’s new moniker: ‘Craft Ontario Shop’. Craft Ontario Executive Director, Emma Quin, describes the evolution as a change that “more positively reflect(s) who we are and what our members, stakeholders, and community believe about us”.
You can explore Craft Ontario’s new identity, and their new website, here. Find out more about what has changed, and read up on the key features of the organization that remain the same. Not based in Ontario? You can still be a part of this new direction! Craft Ontario accepts memberships from those practising both in and outside of the province.
