Celebrate Craft Month

How will you celebrate Craft Month?

In 1994, the Craft & Hobby Association established National Crafting Month for March to raise awareness of Craft and introduce Americans to new creative projects. While Canada doesn’t officially recognize Craft Month, it’s still the perfect opportunity to get excited about Craft!

Revisit an Old Hobby

Craft Month is the perfect opportunity to dust off that forgotten project and revisit your old Craft hobbies. Once you start, you’ll wonder why you had ever stopped! Who doesn’t love a chance to let loose and get creative?

Drop by Your Local Craft Council

Here at the Canadian Crafts Federation, we work closely with our Craft Council members. The Craft Councils always do incredible work to support their local craft scene. So whether you’re an artist, maker or Craft collector, we’re confident your Provincial or Territorial* Craft Council is your perfect one-stop craft shop.

Learn About Craft

Make a plan to join craft historian and writer Mary Callahan (MC) Baumstark in exploring craftivism’s ancient and contemporary roots hosted by the Canadian Society of Decorative Arts. This presentation will touch on popular and academic understandings of craftivism. Receive a 30% discount for CCF/FCMA subscribers, members and affiliates. Please use promo code “CCF2023“.

Treat Yourself to the Homemade Comforts of Craft

It’s time to cozy up in your favourite corner to revisit an old project, learn about local artists or enjoy the carefully crafted items around you. Craft is a spectrum enriched with everything from artistic expression to economic impacts on communities.

Use the hashtag #CraftMonth and tag us @ccffcma to show us how you plan to celebrate craft!

* At the moment, the CCF/FCMA does not have Craft Council or affiliate members in Nunavut
