The CCF/FCMA would like to take a moment to recognize the hard work and dedication of the students of craft from across Canada. We know that this school year did not end the way anyone expected. However, your willingness to adapt, to push yourself, and to persevere, is a motivation and an inspiration to us all.
As you begin your shift from the experience of full time studies to a new world of professional arts practice, know that you are not alone. You are a part of a larger continuum of craft artists, from all walks of life and all corners of this country, who have made this leap before. Follow in their footsteps, and find your next community – as alumni, as entrepreneurs, as designers and makers. Join your local craft council to stay connected to other practitioners, and to learn about approaches and opportunities you can tap into. Bring your energy and your voice to the committees and boards of these organizations, to participate in and develop new projects and programs. What you have to contribute to the next iteration of Canadian society at large is important. It is essential. And now, is your time.
To the graduates of the collective class of 2020, we congratulate you! With all that is uncertain in this world, a key pillar remains steady and true: the world needs your creativity, your passion, and your vision, to help society take its next steps.
Congrats to grads from all the following programs – and if we missed your school, let us know!
