As we all deal with the current global experience, the CCF/FCMA recognizes the significant social and economic impact this situation will have on craft artists.

The situation changes daily, but our determination to support craft artists and the cultural sector at large does not waver. We will continue to fight for craft, and continue to celebrate craft. This includes celebration of our recent national event, which took place prior to the extensive closures and cancellations across Canada.

The #10DigitTech conference in Saskatoon was a resounding success! From March 4th to the 9th, 2020, more than 80 attendees from twelve provinces and territories came together to escape the everyday and learn about the potential for growth between craft and digital practices. A balance of celebration, exploration, and inspiration, the national craft network dug in deep with strategic development sessions, public events, and socials that would make any Prairie dweller proud. So did we have a good time? In the words of the locals, “you betcha!”

Our team is working hard at the CCF/FCMA office to review, edit, and release select recorded sessions and images from the conference. Between the excellent audio/visual staff of the Remai modern and the CCF/FCMA’s talented Digital Content Developer, Phil Lizotte, we will be opening up conference content to ensure the ideas shared reach as many interested folks as possible.
