The Canadian Crafts Federation is delighted to congratulate Robert Jekyll for his receipt of the prestigious Keith Kelley Award for Cultural Leadership.

Presented by the Canadian Conference of the Arts on an annual basis, the award recognizes those who have made a significant contribution to the arts through advocacy work or the development of cultural policy.

Presented at the Canadian Conference of the Arts’ Gala on November 1st, 2010, Robert’s accomplishments were lauded by the arts community including cultural moguls Jian Gomeshi and Paul Gross, who gave the keynote speech at the event.

Robert was nominated for the award by the Canadian Crafts Federation, as we felt his lengthy and passionate efforts to advance the standing of Canadian Craft in the eyes of the public, the government and the creative community at large.

As the President of the CCF/FCMA, he steered the organization through rough waters during a time of overwhelming change, leading to the presence we have today.

The Keith Kelly Award for Cultural Leadership has been awarded annually since 1998, when it was established to recognize the leadership shown by the former National Director of the CCA during his tenure from 1989 to 1998.

The award is an inscribed medal designed by medallic artist Susan Taylor.  Robert shared this honour with Montreal philanthropist and businessman Maurice Forget.
