Swap Spring Cleaning for Spring Meaning!

Spring. It’s a season synonymous with rebirth, new growth and starting fresh. A time to clean up the studio and reorganize your plans, it inspires us all to shake things up and set things straight for the coming year.

The CCF/FCMA encourages you to put those regenerating vibes to good use. There are many ways to get engaged in the cultural community where you often get much more than you give to an organization.

Provincial and Territorial Craft Councils are there to help craftspeople at all levels of their careers, from emerging artists to professional practitioners and even long-term artisans. Each has their own programming, but what you might not know is that many Councils welcome membership from outside their own region. Interested in spreading your work’s influence beyond your home court? Check out the many opportunities to be found in becoming a Craft Council member across the country here.

Councils are not only a good source of information, inspiration and opportunity, they are a great way to connect with a network of artisans, collectors, shop owners and curators, all of whom are interested in the development of the Craft community. Find different ways that you can help out by volunteering for committees at the provincial, territorial or even national level by contacting your local Council or the Canadian Crafts Federation itself!

A common concern for practising artists is the seclusion one can feel working alone in their studio. Joining a Council is a connection to a group of like-minded professionals, all of whom are invested in the same niche activities, but from different perspectives and levels of experience. Best of all, each and every Craft Council member across the country is automatically a member of the Canadian Crafts Federation.

Starting to sound good? It should! Because our number one goal across the country is to help individuals like you succeed in the Craft sector. Harness the energy of Spring and contact your local Craft Council today!
