We’re thrilled to announce that registration is officially open for the 2025 Canadian Crafts Federation Symposium: Crafting Connections, taking place in Ottawa from February 6th to 9th, 2025!
This event will bring together craftspeople, advocates, and arts professionals from across the country for a celebration of Canadian craft like no other.
Why should you attend?
The symposium will be packed with inspiring and engaging activities, including:
- Keynote Speakers: Hear from keynote speaker, Don Kwan. A third-generation Chinese Canadian, Don Kwan turns to his own experiences and challenges of being a gay, East Asian artist as a way to ground in broader conversations about identity, representations, and intergenerational memory-making in the diaspora. We look forward to his thought-provoking discussion!
- Engaging Panels and Workshops: Dive deep into topics that matter to the craft community, from sustainability to digital innovation. Hands-on workshops will provide an opportunity to explore new techniques and ideas.
- Robert Jekyll Award Ceremony: Celebrate excellence in Canadian craft at the Robert Jekyll Award for Leadership in Craft Ceremony, where we’ll recognize leaders who have made lasting contributions to the field.
- Coast to Coast to Coast: Our travelling national exhibition of Canadian craft will be on display at the Ottawa Art Gallery during the Symposium. Featuring works from artists across Canada, this exhibition will highlight the rich diversity of Canadian craft excellence.
And above all, the Canadian Crafts Federation Symposium will be a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow craftspeople and to exchange ideas that can help shape the future of Canadian craft! Register to secure your spot today.
