Time after time Canadian craft artists excel on the international stage, and this year is no exception. The CCF/FCMA would like to congratulate the eight craftspeople invited to exhibit work in the International Competition at the 2012 Cheongju International Craft Biennale: Claudio Pino, Annie Tung, Laurie Roland, Brad Turner, Jane Kenyon, Robyn Love, Carol Milne, and Aaron Oussoren.
Bronfman Award winning glass artist, Ione Thorkelsson will also showcase her work as part of this year’s international exhibition. Curated by Youn Ae Kim, the exhibition explores work suiting the theme of the event, ‘Not the New, Just the Neccessary’.
The Cheongju International Craft Biennale is dedicated to showcasing the very best of the world’s makers and fosters international cultural exchanges, creating positive working relationships with the countries involved.
Another Canadian connection sees Maegen Black returning to the Biennale for the third time, this year as a speaker at the Biennale’s 2011 International Symposium. She is proud to bring a Canadian perspective to the contemporary discussions, and excited to return to Korea to continue building networks between Korea and Canada.
