Robert Jekyll Award for Leadership in Craft – Call for Artists

*UPDATED*

The Canadian Crafts Federation is introducing a new national award: the Robert Jekyll Award for Leadership, previously titled The Robert Jekyll President’s Award. This newly expanded recognition celebrates distinguished contributors to the craft sector, and is one of the highest markers of exceptional commitment to the development of the craft community in Canada. Recipients will receive recognition to commemorate these achievements, starting with an inaugural presentation at the annual CCF/FCMA Conference in Quebec City this September.

For this reason, the CCF/FCMA is seeking a craftsperson to create a new medal or pin to be presented as the official and exclusive Robert Jekyll Award for Leadership in Craft. Once a finalist is selected, they will be commissioned to create the award. Durability, quality, and innovation will be key elements in the selection process. The call is open to all Canadians, so spread the word!

The Robert Jekyll Award for Leadership is a prestigious honour, reflecting its namesake. The founding president of the CCF/FCMA, Jekyll helped guide the organization through a time of overwhelming change, leading to the presence we have today. While he is known for over 30 years of remarkable stained glass work, he is also respected as a major force in the creative community at large, advancing the status of Canadian craft across the country. To be a recipient of this award is to be recognized as an invaluable citizen of craft.
