It’s always a good time to check out the Citizens of Craft website, but now, we’re cooking up something new. The Canadian Crafts Federation has been working with our digital partners, SOS Design and Digital Chaos to prepare the Citizens of Craft website with new functions such as a new landing page and an easy-to-navigate menu. The most exciting change will be the ability to add digital events with ease. For now, we encourage artists to take the time to browse through or update your own Citizens of Craft Profile.
Citizens of Craft is a movement of makers, shoppers, admirers and anyone whose values match our values of heritage, innovation, the leading edge, traditional, authentic, and entrepreneurial. The website allows everyone to access and highlight craft in a rich and searchable environment.
You Create the Content
Citizens of Craft is Canada’s craft hub. Anyone can browse the profiles of artists, galleries, shops, guilds and more. If you are a member of a provincial/territorial craft council you can create a profile in the Citizens of Craft™ community. Showcase your work and align yourself with the vast array of Canadian craft talent. You can always check on your profile if you haven’t updated it in a while. The Canadian Crafts Federation will use the Citizens of Craft as a resource to promote digital events on our social media platforms.

What’s in your Sewing Basket? An Online Talk with Claire Sparling

Join us for an online talk with Claire Sparling as she investigates historical sewing tools from the Manitoba Crafts Museum and Library’s collection. Claire will also discuss her studio and work, musings about a tailor’s set of tools, as well as demonstrate some sewing techniques. There will be a question and answer portion where Claire will discuss sewing literacy and answer the audience’s questions.

The Maison des métiers d’art de Québec (MMAQ)

The Maison des métiers d’art de Québec (MMAQ) is a training, creation, and research centre devoted to the development of contemporary practices in fine crafts. It is a unique life and work space with 25 ceramic, sculpture, and textile studios, disseminated over seven floors, at the heart of downtown Québec City. The MMAQ puts forward a three-year high-level superior training program as well as workshops for the public and summer camps for the youth. As part of its research, development, and innovation mandate, the MMAQ offers professional activities for artists of all levels.
