We are thrilled to share our official event itinerary for this year’s CCF/FCMA Annual Conference: Intersections & Interconnexions. As the title implies, this conference aims to be a touch-point for craft sector members from across Canada to come together, connect, and talk craft.
This two-day event is an opportunity to engage in innovative discussions about the state of the craft sector and how to improve it for the future. Titled “Intercommunication: What’s On, What’s Up, and What’s Needed,” Day One gets down to the specifics about what’s happening across the board for craft sector activity. With a presentation on the CCF/FCMA’s current activities, followed by a series of concurrent sessions, we will address current operations, challenges and solutions for the future on various subjects, including advocacy, marketing, research and more. Day two, entitled “Collaboration and Change: Expanding Your Circle,” will help delegates take the ideas gathered on day one and put them into action.
In addition to our special guest speaker lectures, day two’s panel discussions and presentations will identify collaborative practices that bridge gaps between organizations, artists, and the communities they serve. With speakers from Craft NB, Studio magazine, Work in Culture, Business for the Arts, the Craft Council of Newfoundland & Labrador, Cultural Pluralism, in the Arts Movement Ontario, the Canada Council for the Arts and more, the views will be broad and the content will be informative. Be sure to download our itinerary for full details!
As a special treat, both days will include a fun event for delegates to unwind! Join us for the Craft Bus Tour, visiting local fine craft studios and galleries (there is a $25 registration fee, see here for details), and the Craft Community Social, a mix-and-mingle event that will include the presentation of the CCF/FCMA’s 2017 Robert Jekyll Award for Leadership in Craft.
Extend your stay and participate in all the exciting events of the Canadian Craft Biennial in the days to follow. Find out more, and register today!
