This exciting mentorship opportunity supports the Studio Magazine digital platform and highlights Ontario’s dynamic craft sector. Ideal for early-career writers, editors, or arts professionals, this experience provides hands-on learning in editorial writing, digital publishing, and community engagement.
Contract Duration: June 2025 – March 31, 2026
Approximate Hours: 220 hours total
Hourly Rate: $21.00 (inclusive of applicable taxes and deductions)
Work Environment: Remote – Home Office

Job Description: Online Editor Mentorship
Position Summary:
The Online Editor Mentee will contribute to the Studio Magazine digital platform by researching, writing, and publishing engaging online content related to contemporary craft. Under the guidance of an experienced mentor, the mentee will create original stories about Ontario exhibitions, craft artists, and practices, while strengthening their voice as a cultural communicator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and publish digital articles for Studio Magazine’s online platform
- Profile artists, exhibitions, and craft practices with cultural awareness and curiosity
- Attend Ontario-based craft events (costs covered) to support content development
- Participate in regular check-ins and receive editorial feedback
- Collaborate with the CCF/FCMA team to align stories with national craft sector goals
Desired Qualifications:
- Early-career writer, editor, or cultural worker with strong communication skills
- Interest in contemporary craft, storytelling, and inclusive engagement
- Based in Ontario and connected to the craft or broader arts community
- Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely
- Experience with blog writing, journalism, or cultural commentary is an asset
