our first ever national symposium, “Hindsight/Foresight”, where
she will participate as one of the four speakers in a discussion of
contemporary Canadian Craft and its impact on the contemporary
practices of award winning Fine Craft artists. As a jewellery, hollowware
and metal artist, this enthusiastic NSCAD professor is sure to bring
an insightful perspective to the symposium.

An acknowledged leader
in her field, Son is the recipient of numerous awards from multiple
organizations including the Canada Council for the Arts and the Metal
Arts Guild. She was also the winner of the Saidye Bronfman Award for
excellence in Fine Crafts in 2011. The $25,000 prize is presented
annually and is the most prestigious recognition awarded for Craft in
Canada.

Son’s innovative and explorative pieces, often inspired by forms of the
natural world, depict exquisite meditations upon emotional/spiritual
states of mind and being. Her works and talent have taken her all over
the world, delivering lectures, presentations and workshops throughout
Canada, the US, Germany, Austrailia and Korea. With a successful career
and numerous exhibitions behind her; Son brings a truly unique portfolio
