National Volunteer Week

The Canadian Crafts Federation recognizes National Volunteer Week, issuing a huge thank you to all our fabulous volunteers! Each and every person who gives their time, energy and experience makes an essential contribution to the Federation, for which we are grateful.

Many people may not be unaware of the impact they are making by volunteering. In fact, some may think that they are not offering any help at all. But you’d be wrong. By volunteering your own personal time, and helping those individuals who need it the most, you are showcasing to those around you what a great person you are. And you should also remember that taking part in National Volunteer Week can have great benefits for you and your future too.

For those of you who are currently navigating the job market to look for a job, enlisting the help of somewhere like ARC Resumes (www.arcresumes.com) and including what type of volunteering efforts you have been involved in, during the week or at other times throughout the year, it could help to put your resume in the limelight. Some employers are looking for good, kind people, and by volunteering, you definitely meet those requirements. All in all, it is a great way to help make your community a better place to be. And there are so many people that we must thank.

From staff members of the Provincial and Territorial Craft Councils to our board of directors, translators, greeters, organizers and more, you make the work of a largely virtually-based organization come to life. Like many other charitable and arts organization, we could not move forward or make the impact we do without your efforts.

If you are interested in volunteering with the CCF/FCMA or your local Craft Council, please do not hesitate to contact us or connect to the Councils.

Looking to expand your volunteer base or work with other like minded individuals? Connect through the Volunteer Canada website, where you can find information on how and where to volunteer, or ask for support in your community.

In the words of Canada’s Governor General, the honourable David Johnson, volunteers create “a smarter, more caring nation-one step at a time”. Thanks to one and all for their dedication.
