CHRC Creating Legacy Strategy

With HR and Skills Development Canada “phasing out core funding and some elements of project funding to sector councils”, the Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) is creating a strategy to ensure the tools, studies, and products its developed over the span of sixteen years remain available to Canadian cultural workers and employers.

The CHRC will be partnering with associates to safeguard CHRC’s wealth of knowledge and programs. They’ll ensure cultural workers’ continued access to these resources after March 2013, but little else is known about the long-term impact of the dissolution of the organization.

For the Canadian Crafts Federation, it means we will no longer have access to the Youth Internship program, something we took advantage of in 2006-07 for the project manager position, and had planned on using in the future. Other arts organizations are undoubtedly experiencing the same.

We are currently seeking ways to help the CHRC navigate this difficult time, and will continue to keep our membership abreast of the situation.
