Depuis les balbutiements de cette guilde, le b\u00e9n\u00e9volat est au c\u0153ur du secteur canadien des m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art. Pendant plus d\u2019un si\u00e8cle, d\u2019innombrables b\u00e9n\u00e9voles ont organis\u00e9 des expositions et des lev\u00e9es de fonds, \u00e9t\u00e9 membres de conseils d\u2019administration et occup\u00e9 plusieurs autres fonctions. Source\u00a0: Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1906:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inspir\u00e9es par le succ\u00e8s de leur boutique et de l\u2019exposition, Peck et Philips constituent la CHG, un organisme b\u00e9n\u00e9vole sans but lucratif dont le but est de promouvoir et de commercialiser les m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art traditionnels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1910 -192<\/strong>9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1910: <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Phillips entreprend une tourn\u00e9e de conf\u00e9rences dans l\u2019Ouest canadien, qui m\u00e8ne \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation de divisions de la CHG partout au pays. Les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles de la CHG, principalement des femmes de milieu ais\u00e9, cr\u00e9ent des collections, organisent des expositions et favorisent la vente d\u2019\u0153uvres dans le but de relancer et de d\u00e9velopper ce qu\u2019elles appellent les \u00ab\u00a0industries d\u2019art domestique\u00a0\u00bb.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1914-1920:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Durant la Premi\u00e8re Guerre mondiale, les membres de la CHG se portent volontaires pour aider les combattants. En Alberta, par exemple, des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles collaborent avec des h\u00f4pitaux pour anciens combattants vivant avec un handicap afin que ceux-ci puissent \u00eatre r\u00e9mun\u00e9r\u00e9s gr\u00e2ce aux m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>L\u2019entre-deux-guerres et la Grande D\u00e9pression<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1920-1935:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>La CHG n\u2019est pas seule\u00a0: de nombreuses associations ind\u00e9pendantes de m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art voient le jour au cours des ann\u00e9es\u00a01920 et 1930. Le groupe organise la vente d\u2019articles de m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art dans le magasin phare d\u2019Eaton sur la rue College. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ces revenus, ce comit\u00e9 de b\u00e9n\u00e9voles ach\u00e8tera plus tard un local commercial consacr\u00e9 aux m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art de l\u2019Ontario.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ann\u00e9es\u00a01930s:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pendant la Grande D\u00e9pression, les membres de la CHG redoublent d\u2019efforts, car la vente d\u2019articles de m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art est une source de revenus suppl\u00e9mentaires dont les artistes ont grandement besoin. La division de Montr\u00e9al fonde une \u00e9cole de tissage pour former des enseignants et enseignantes qui, \u00e0 leur tour, formeront les agriculteurs du Manitoba et de l\u2019Alberta.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>La division manitobaine de la CHG met sur pied une biblioth\u00e8que de publications sur les m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art et de patrons \u00e0 l\u2019intention des ateliers et des artistes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>L\u2019apr\u00e8s-guerre<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1945: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles de la CHG collaborent avec le Mus\u00e9e royal de l\u2019Ontario pour organiser une exposition majeure intitul\u00e9e\u00a0<em>Design in Industry<\/em>, qui traduit l\u2019engouement croissant pour les m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1946:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jean Russell et Elena (Arkell) Wait \u00e9largissent les activit\u00e9s de bienfaisance de la Junior League of Vancouver en soutenant les arts. Elles cr\u00e9ent le Community Arts Council of Vancouver, qui soutient les artistes et les organismes artistiques tout en organisant des expositions. Fond\u00e9e en 1972, la Craftsmen Association of British Columbia est issue de cette organisation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1960-1969 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1964: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aileen Vanderbilt Webb, Margaret Patch et Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay fondent le Conseil mondial des m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art et organise sa premi\u00e8re assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, \u00e0 laquelle participent 942\u00a0personnes issues de 47\u00a0pays, dont 30 originaires du Canada. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019un autre organisme national d\u00e9di\u00e9 aux m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art qui met l\u2019accent sur le professionnalisme, la modernisation et l\u2019avancement de l\u2019enseignement sup\u00e9rieur des m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1970-1979<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1970:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dans ce contexte de professionnalisation, de nombreuses b\u00e9n\u00e9voles du comit\u00e9 des femmes de la Guilde canadienne des m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art sont qualifi\u00e9es d\u2019\u00ab\u00a0amatrices\u00a0\u00bb en d\u00e9calage avec la modernit\u00e9.
