Canadian Craft Biennial Coming Soon

The much anticipated ‘Can Craft? Craft Can!’ Canadian Craft Biennial will take place September 15th & 16th, 2017. As described by the organizers, the Art Gallery of Burlington and Craft Ontario, the content of the Biennial will explore “what and who is ‘Canadian Craft’ and analyze ideas regarding the agency of craft.”

Set to launch during Canada’s 150th anniversary, the Biennial will serve as a “spotlight to celebrate and educate on the importance of contemporary craft throughout Canada’s diverse history and future.” The event schedule, which includes exhibition openings and a two day Craft Symposium, will take place at the Art Gallery of Burlington, the Holiday Inn in Burlington, and at OCAD University in Toronto. Get a taste of the schedule at canadiancraftbiennial.ca.

It will be a big year for craft activity, not only with the Biennial, but with the CCF/FCMA’s national conference running just before the Burlington Art Gallery’s events get started. Stay tuned as we finalize the details of our annual conference, ensuring that our craft sector engagement-focused meetings and networking events align smoothly with the Biennial. Two big events – one great reason to travel to Ontario this Fall. See you there!
